Incredibly Wonderful Art and Story Workshops for Women

StoryDolls for Seniors

We offer a special version of StoryDolls for Seniors.  The class is shorter and more assistance is available in planning and making the doll.  We bring everything that’s needed to your group, whether you’re at a Senior Center, Community Center or Assisted Living Facility.

We’ve found that Seniors love this activity because of the new relationship it gives them to the stories that mean the most to them.  In making their StoryDoll, they recall details about their story that they had forgotten, gain insight into what this particular story means to them, and re-create the feelings of the original experience.  As a result, their doll brings their story to life for them in a deeper, more emotional way than a simple re-telling can do.

They also love the fact that they can make a wonderful doll in such a short period of time. Because this creative process is so easy, creating a doll that matches the image in their imagination is something that everyone in the workshop can do, and that is very satisfying.

Hearing the story told through a StoryDoll gives the participants a unique way to interact with each other.  The story itself is more evocative because of the way the doll brings it to life  -- each doll sparking questions about how it represents it’s story and how it was made drawing people into lively conversations.  And every dollmaker receives well-deserved accolades and compliments as they share their doll with the group, which just adds to their enjoyment and sense of fulfillment.
